January 6: Standing for What Is Right
Matthew 2:16-23
Herod Slaughters Infants
16Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth {angry}, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.
17Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying,
18In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
The Return to Nazareth
(Isaiah 61:1-11; Matthew 13:53-58; Mark 6:1-6; Luke 2:39-40; Luke 4:16-30)
19But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, {Note: dreams are one of the ways God communicates with man}
20Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life.
21And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.
22But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:
23And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.

Satan was the real motivator behind Herod’s actions. Ever since God first prophesied that a “seed” of a woman would bruise his head, Satan had been seeking to find and destroy this “seed” (Gen. 3:15 "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel").That “seed,” of course, was Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
It appears Satan is able to perceive when God is making a major move in the earth {Note: in a person's life aswell, that is when things go crazy). In the days when Moses was born, Satan moved Pharaoh to kill all the male children of the Israelite slaves. After Jesus was born, Satan motivated Herod to kill all the male children in Bethlehem. No doubt he was seeking to eliminate this “seed,” the One who was going to bruise his head and strip him of all power and authority.
Note: the enemy satan, uses people just as God uses people. Just as satan is able to perceive when God is making a major move in the earth, he is able to perceive when God is making a major move in a person's life. After all, don't forget, you are earth too. Your body, originally was formed from the earth. This usually occurs when you are about to breakthrough, or about to be blessed, and things go crazy: it appears there is a lot of spiritual attacks, confusion, fear, anxiety, disharmony, insomnia, etc.{just a few of his major weapons}lots of obstacles, craziness, etc. This is a sign you are doing the right thing and making the right moves and they are in alignment with the will of God for you. Press in with prayers; keep on keeping on; keep the faith and keep your eyes on the prize.

Once again, today we see children being slaughtered. This time it is through abortion. The Seed has already come and is multiplying Himself in every born-again believer, so Satan is trying to kill people before they can be born and then born again. He is also attacking our youth in unprecedented ways through violence and suicide. Is it possible he thinks this is the generation that will bring Jesus back? {Note: I believe it} Is he, in desperation, trying to put off his doom by destroying this generation? {Note: Look around you. Since covid, there is more young people homeless and on drugs than ever before. He also knows that they are the future of the world}.
Today we need to have enough spiritual perception to recognize that what is happening to our children and youth is an indication of a great struggle in the spirit realm {Note: everything first starts in the spiritual realm. And what we see in the physical realm is a manifestation of what is going on in the spiritual realm. It is a spiritual warfare on God's children, His creation, His Plan}. While we pray, “Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus!” we must also stand for what is right.
Note: for this you were called as a Christian/Believer. You remember the Scripture that says many are called and few are chosen -Matthew 22:14-? When you step up to the plate to your call, this is how you get chosen.
A CALL TO ACTION: Parents, put on your full amor/amour of God and battle/war for your children.
Ephesians 6:10-18
The Full Armor of God
10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God, so that you can make your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
13Therefore take up the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you will be able to stand your ground, and having done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness arrayed, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness of the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18Pray in the Spirit at all times, with every kind of prayer and petition. To this end, stay alert with all perseverance in your prayers for all the saints. 19Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will boldly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it fearlessly, as I should.
