February 20: God’s Love Endures

1 Corinthians 13:1-13

1 Corinthians 13:1-13

The Greatest Gift

1Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body [a]to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

Note: in verse 3, it says "and though I give my body to be burned" makes me wonder if they are talking about cremation.  If you know the answer, please share.

4Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not [b]puffed up; 5does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked[c]thinks no evil; 6does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.  (Note: I believe that these are attributes/characteristics of Jesus Christ).

8Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part.  (Note: this last statement is to show that man does not know everything). 10But when that which is [d]perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

Note: "that which is perfect" is referring to Jesus.  And I keep ignoring the second half of that sentence, for days now, and it won't go away.  I am going to put it all together here, with the help of the Holy Spirit💯: "But when that which is perfect (Jesus) has come (to you, to a situation, to a condition, to a place, to a family, to a relationship, to anything, etc.), then that which is in part (that which is incomplete) will be done away (will no longer be incomplete).  Praise the Lord Almighty!  This is when that Christian, that believer, THAT WHATEVER: situation, condition, etc.,  becomes this: Colossians 2:10 "And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: (these guys are bad guys, they are the ones that make life difficult for humans.  Praise the Lord, thank You Yeshua/Jesus/Isa.  Hallelujah!  So we must invite Jesus Christ into everything, including and especially that which is incomplete.

11When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. . 12For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

1 Corinthians 13:7

Endureth all things.

Pastor Andrew Wommack teaches about "God's Love Endures"

People are in a constant struggle to feel good about themselves, yet it seems life is full of pressures that repeatedly drive them to and beyond their ability to cope. They go past what they know to be the boundary of a proper response. Their drive to maintain self-worth excuses their actions. They say, “There are limits. I’m only human. How much can one person take?” Those who haven’t tapped into God’s limitless power supply will readily agree and let them off the hook for their selfish attitudes and actions.

The truth is that where our limits end, God’s power begins. He does not abandon His children to their own resources. He lives in them, and He’s placed His supernatural love and joy in them so they can endure all things (Note: I love this!  Thank You Jesus.). That means believers have no excuse for blowing up and giving up. We have God’s ability to endure all things because we have His love which never fails.

This truth isn’t meant to condemn; it’s a liberating truth that will set you free. (John 8:32 "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.) The temporary solace that comes from giving up or giving in will soon be swallowed by the harsh realities that arise from inappropriate behavior. As the apostle James said, “The wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God” (James 1:20). Regardless of how good it may feel to give in to your carnal emotions, that surrender will only bring you grief.

Today if you will draw upon His love, God will empower you with supernatural ability so that nothing will be impossible for you. You can change the things that can be changed and endure the things that can’t be changed (Note: Wow!  That is powerful!). Live in His enduring love.  (Note: Praise the Lord, amen!!!)
