PRAYER FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS




Shabbat Shalom!  Today, we are going to write about a "PRAYER FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS".  Before we go any further, let us have an understanding of what RIGHTEOUSNESS means.  RIGHTEOUSNESS is a noun, and it means "devotion to a sinless life.  This is very interesting, because we are all sinners.  Infact, the Bible states that we are all born sinners because of Adam and Eve's sin in the Garden of Eden, as a result, sin entered into the world.  

Romans 5:12

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned--

Romans 5:18

Therefore, as through one man's {Adam} judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man's {Jesus} righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.

Other words that describe RIGHTEOUSNESS are: fairness, goodness, respectability, honor, justness, uprightness, virtue, et cetera.

When I started my journey in life to find out who I am, I heard RIGHTEOUSNESS a lot.  I really thought it was something you have.  But then I came to find out that RIGHTEOUSNESS is something God gives you.  It is possible some people are born with it, but that might depend on the generations before them, and the will of God, and the choices one makes in life.  

This prayer is for one to ask the Lord for RIGHTOUSNESS.  It is written by Ron Phillips.

PRAYER

"Lord, I have no righteousness of my own.  I give You my sin for Your righteousness.  Lord, I receive Your righteousness as my standing before the Father.  I gladly  confess that I am now, and forever will be, who You say I am.  

I confess to being Your child, a saint, an heir of God, a part of Your bride and body.  

Lord, I yield my body as an instrument of righteousness.  I recognize that all I was in Adam is now dead, and that all I am in Jesus makes me Your own.  

Lord, I accept the Bible as Your very breath of life.  I acknowledge 2 Timothy 3:16, which tells us that all Scripture is God-breathed and is profitable for instruction in righteousness.

Lord, I thank You that Your death has made me righteous before the Father.  In Jesus' Name, amen".

Based on the last paragraph, it seems that RIGHTEOUSNESS falls under Grace.  Grace is the undeserving goodness of God towards man: Jesus died and His death made man righteous before God.
