Shabbat Shalom! Today, we are going to talk about "JESUS IS YOUR BROTHER". He is our Brother because we became children of God because of His finished work on the Cross. Let us see what the Bible says.
Matthew 12:50
"For whoever does the will of My Father in Heaven is My brother and sister and mother".
There you go! That's the prerequisite.
Hebrews 2:11
"For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren".
Sanctify means to "hold in highest esteem". Other words meaning sanctify is anoint, bless, cleanse, dedicate, purify, set apart, et cetera.
Romans 8:29
"For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren".
Galatians 3:26
"For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus". Yes and Amen!!!
John 1:12
"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name".
This Scripture tells me that we become children of God by receiving Jesus Christ, and by believing in His Name. Praise God hallelujah!!!
Ephesians 2:19
"Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God".
This Scripture tells me that we are citizens of Heaven, "the household of God": God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This is by the finished work of Jesus. This is a great thank You Jesus moment.
1 John 3:1
"Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him".
This Scripture tells me that Father God has bestowed His Love on us, so that we are called His children. All of this is because of Jesus' finished work on the Cross, and the Father's love for us. Prior to this, if you were not one of the chosen ones, we were not considered His children. This has everything to do with the choices our ancestors made by worshiping other Gods.
It is written in Exodus 20:2 "thou shalt not have no other gods before me". This is one one the 10 Commandments given to Moses. This is a COMMAND, a MANDATE. These are reasons to love Elohim because He first loved us, even when we were still living in sin, rebelling against His commands. This is where sin comes in, disobeying God.
Galatians 4:6-7
"And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!"
"Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ".
My God, this is a very powerful Scripture. As I came upon it, tears started swelling up in my eyes. It tells me that the Father has sent the Holy Spirit, which is called here the Spirit of Yahweh's/God's Son, into our hearts, crying out "Abba, Father" which also means Father, Father. My God, do you see what I see? This is what I get. He is reminding us of Him. Reminding us to call upon Him. Reminding us of who He is to us. That complements Jesus' purpose on the Cross. Praise God!!!
The next verse seems to be telling us that WE ARE FREE. WE ARE NO LONGER CAPTIVES BUT CHILDREN OF GOD, "BUT HEIRS OF GOD THROUGH CHRIST".
These two verses are excellent for people in bondage. This is what slavery is. It is excellent for people struggling with addiction. Addiction is a spirit, a strongman. A strongman is a spirit that only God, or someone He has called for the deliverance ministry, can take from you, and/or the Word of God.
And bondage is not only being an addict, it is also the struggle with something that controls you, that has power over you. Just now, the Holy Spirit tells me that this spirit is a lying and deceptive spirit, because as a child of God, you have power over it. We struggle because we do not know who we are. That is the first thing the enemy does, he steals our identity {John 10:10}, and He lies to us to discourage us about reading the Word of God; and as a result, we "suffer because of lack of knowledge" {Hosea 4:6}.
Romains 8:14
"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God".
So, this Scriptures tells me that it is a necessity as a believer to be led by the Spirit of God. This makes you a child of God because His Spirit leads you. That means, the Holy Spirit leads you to live the will of God. It is very important for us to be led by the Holy Spirit.
I believe when we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us, we come under God's Kairos timing {kairos means "the appointed time in the purpose of God", we get into rhythm with Him.
1 John 3:2
"Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is". In the Mighty Name of Jesus, amen!!!
