GOD IS GOOD & PRAYER AGAINST EVIL
Shabbat Shalom! Today, We are going to do a "Prayer Against Evil". You all know that the God we serve is good. He is the God of Abraham, God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob {Exodus 3:15, Acts 7:32; and the God who created the Heavens and the earth, and everything in it {Nehemiah 9:6}. Here are the Scriptures that compliment the these statements.
Exodus 3:15 NIV {New International Version} Version
It is written that "Moreover God said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: "The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations".
Acts 7:31-32 NIV {New International Version} Version
"the voice of the Lord came to him {Moses}, saying, 'I am the God of your fathers--the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'."
Nehemiah 9:6 NIV {New International Version} Version
You alone are the LORD. You made the Heavens {plural, means there is more than one heaven} even the highest heavens, and all their starry host {stars}, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of Heaven worship You.
Below here, we are going to list some Scriptures to complement that God is good. We will start with
James 1:17
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the Heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. {I think this part of this Scripture "change like shifting shadows" describes satan. You cannot depend on him, he will let you down}.
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. {In some Bible interpretations, instead of "not to harm you", it will be "not for evil". {So next time something good happens to you, REMEMBER this verse "Every good and perfect gift is from above", from God the Father}.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal {everlasting} life.
Luke 18:19, Mark 10:18
"Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good--except God alone".
Matthew 19:17
"Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied". "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments."
I normally would cut the latter part of this Scripture because I am only writing about the Goodness of God. But the latter part of this Scripture is very important. It states that "If you want to enter life, keep the commandments". This is a KEY to LIFE {Jesus}.
Jesus says "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life". And the Scripture says, "if you want to enter life" {Jesus}, "you must keep the commandments". This requires total honesty with oneself. Have you broken any of the commandments? I have, we all have. This is sin you know. Every disobedience to God is sin, and breaking the commandment is sin. God knew ahead of time. He is Omniscient [all seeing, wise, knowledgeable, almighty, et cetera]. That is why He made provision for His Son to be the Lamb for the forgiveness of all of mankind's sins, and then to forsake [turn away from] them.
Matthew 28:20
and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
This Scripture tells us that God is not in favor of disobedience, otherwise, He would not have us be taught "to obey everything He has commanded us".
Psalm 31:19
"How abundant are the good things that You {God} have stored up for those who fear You, that You bestow {grant, hand out, lavish, FAVOR, come through, et cetera} in the sight of all, on those who take refuge {hideout, resort, protection, retreat, stronghold, shelter, security, escape, et cetera} in you".
If you believe, say "I believe, I receive, and I come into agreement, in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen!!! One thing I want you to know is that this fear in this Scripture is awareness and acknowledging that God sees everything we do; and because we love Him, honor Him, and respect Him, you choose not to do that which is not pleasing to Him {that which is not pleasing in His Sight.
Psalm 34:8
"Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him". {So be it, in Jesus' Name. Amen!!!
Psalm 84:11
"For the LORD God is a sun and a shield, the LORD bestows FAVOR and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless".
This Scripture tells us right here, that it is very important how you walk as a believer, as a born again. You have to walk in ways pleasing to God if you want Him to shield you [shield = armor, safeguard, shelter, defend, cover, security, and guard you, et cetera]; If you want Him to bestow FAVOR and honor upon you; if you want God not to withhold good things from you because your walk is blameless.
There is no other way, the Christian way is a way of life. You will stumble and you will fall, [You MUST get into the habit of Repentance and Forgiveness QUICKLY]. The Holy Spirit will eventually take charge, this is when things you use to do before, does not feel right anymore. You are now a new man or new woman [= a new creation: 2 Corinthians 5:17 says "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he [or she] is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come!"]. Amen?
Psalm 107:1
"Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever". {Thus you have heard the wise say attitude is gratitude}.
Attitude is a noun. It means mental outlook. Other words for attitude are: approach, belief, mindset, opinion, stance, temperament, position, sensibility, et cetera}. Gratitude is a noun. It means appreciation. Other words for gratitude are: thanks, praise, grace, gratefulness, obligation, honor, response, et cetera.
Attitude is gratitude must be a worldly statement because it is backwards. For me, as a believer, I would have said "gratitude is attitude". As a believer, your GRATITUDE {your appreciation for God and His Kingdom, your thanks for Jesus' complete work on the Cross, your praise, your receiving of His grace, your gratefulness for what Elohim {God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit} has done for you, is a result of your ATTITUDE {your outlook [direction, vision, routine, frame of mind, et cetera. Attitude is very important for your life; for choosing directions, grounding, the way you look at things, it helps you have a vision: gives you the ability to perceive with eyes, have the right mental image pleasing to God, gives you concept, et cetera}. Your ATTITUDE is a result of what this verse was telling us earlier { Psalm 84:11 "For the LORD God is a sun and a shield, the LORD bestows FAVOR and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. In this sense, ATTITUDE is a good thing.
I am believing that when you give God the GRATITUDE that He deserves, He gives you the ATTITUDE that you deserve, to see you through on this journey. MY GOD! MY GOD! MY ! YOU ARE ALMIGHTY. YOU ARE GOOD, in Jesus' Name.
Psalm 145:9
The LORD is good to all; He has compassion on all he has made.
Did you see that? The Bible says "He {God} has compassion {noun: tender feeling; empathy, kindness [which is one of the fruits of the Spirit] mercy, sorrow, charity, condolence, et cetera}on ALL He has made. It did not say some, it said all! So whether you are living in sin or not, whether you believe in Him or His Son or not, He has compassion for you.
This is what this Scripture means: Romans 8:38-39 "For I am convinced that neither death {satan} nor Life {Jesus}, neither {God's} angels nor principalities {devils}, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers {demonic}, neither height {Heavens} nor depth {hell, depth of the sea}, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Jesus is the holder, the carrier of God's Love. He is LOVE. It is through Jesus, even when we are not in right standing with God, that He has compassion on us. My God! Are you learning something today? If you are, say praise God, thank You Jesus!!!
Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. {Amen, hallelujah!!! Again, here He says in ALL things, not in some things}!!!
Romans 12:2
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--His good, pleasing and perfect will". {As a believer, God does not want us to conform to the patterns of this world. This is where the enemy exerts peer pressure on our children, on young people. We must pray for them}.
Conform is a verb, an action word. It means adjust, adapt. God is simply telling us believers not to adjust, or adapt to the patterns {patterns = arrangements, devices, instructions [I don't mean Governmental], impression, plan, mold, et cetera} of this world. That is why in Jesus' Prayer to God for us in John 17:15-17, He says "I am not asking that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by the Truth {Jesus}; Your Word {Jesus} is Truth... If you have encountered satan, this is the time you will be screaming "THANK YOU JESUS! Always remind yourself that you are just here on this earth for a short time; you are just passing through.
1 John 1:5
This is the message we have heard from Him [Jesus] and declare to you: God is light; in Him there is no darkness {evil} at all.
Now you know: if you are living in ways not pleasing to God [you are living in darkness] you are serving satan, if you are living in ways pleasing to God [you are living in the Light], you are serving God. Even though God has compassion towards you [Psalm 145:9], there are still laws that govern our choices and behaviors that is a result of the outcome of our lives. Some of the solution to this is 1} receiving GRACE, 2} accepting Jesus, 3} repenting of your sins, 4} forsaking your sins, 4} forgiving others and yourself, et cetera.
1 John 1:9
"If we confess our sins, He {God} is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness".
When we confess our sins, the Blood of Jesus cleanses us to purify us from all the curses, the filth, the evil, the bad things that follow sin, that gives satan the right to do his thing. This is a thank You Jesus moment. GOD IS GOOD!!!
1 John 4:8
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. {Amen! Praise God, hallelujah!!!}
1 John 4:16
"And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them".
Wow! How amazing is that? Now that makes sense. No wonder satan does not like people getting along, all this division, all this prejudice, relationships not working, families not getting along. Wow! God is good, all the time, all the time, God is good!!! Amen hallelujah!!!
1 Thessalonians 5:18
"give thanks {Gratitude} in all circumstances {good or bad}; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus".
This is a very important Scripture to remember, especially when things are bad. Yes, the devil intends it for evil, but God will turn it around for your good. He may use the circumstance to mold you, strengthen you, transform you, test you, so many other things. This is where GRATITUDE comes in. Remember what I said earlier on in this blog, that Gratitude is Attitude. Jesus confirms it here in this Scripture, giving thanks {gratitude} turns things around for your good, and it adjusts your attitude to conform you to a new creation. I know it is not easy, but you can do it. Keep saying to yourself that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13).
Exodus 33:19
And the LORD said, "I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion". He's the BOSS!
Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.
Isaiah 55:8-9
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. "As the Heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts".
2 Corinthians 4:8-10
"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body".
This Scripture is befitting this moment in time. Even though we might be or have been hard-pressed {agitated, bothered, distressed, harassed, stressed, troubled, worried, anxious, at wit's end} during this pandemic, but we are not crushed; perplexed {baffled, complicated, dumbfounded, perturbed, entangled, rattled}, but not in despair {depression, hopelessness, loose faith, lose heart, [maybe momentarily], but we are not in despair; some persecuted {harassed, hounded, maltreated, oppressed, picked on, tortured, victimized, afflicted} [some]; and so on and so forth with all the bad experiences that has and is still going on, but we were/are not destroyed. The truth of the matter is, as believers, "we always carry around in our bodies the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our bodies" in us, during these times and all hard times. WE ARE OVERCOMERS through Jesus!
Now I am going to share with you a prayer by John Eckhardt. God has spoken to my heart to do so.
PRAYER AGAINST EVIL
O Lord, rescue me from evil people. Protect me from those who are "destructive", those who plot evil in their hearts and stir up trouble all day long. Their tongues sting like a snake, the venom of a viper drips from their lips. O Lord, keep me out of the hands of the wicked. Protect me from those who are "destructive" for they are plotting against me. The proud have set a trap to catch me, they have placed traps all along the way.
I said to the Lord, "You are my God" Listen, O Lord, to my cries for mercy! O Sovereign Lord, the strong one who rescued me, You protected me on the day of battle. Lord do not let evil people have their way. Do not let their evil schemes succeed, or they will become proud. Let my enemies be destroyed by the very evil they have planned for me. Let burning coals fall down on their heads. Let them be thrown into the fire or into watery pits from which they can't escape.
Don't let liars (deception) "succeed" with us, in our "lives, in all that we are and in all that we have". Cause great disasters to fall on "those who set out to destroy us". But I know the Lord will help those they persecute. He will give justice to the "suffering". Surely, "Your children" are praising Your name, the Godly will live in Your presence. {If you believe, say "I believe, I come into agreement, I receive, and I thank You LORD, in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen!!!"
